Climbing Mount Batur

A few memories from the day we woke up at 2 am to climb Mount Batur.
The road was tough, but the view was worth it. After climbing for hours in the dark, we sat at the top of the mountain and watched the light slowly rippling on the lake below, eating bananas and eggs cooked in volcano steam. We shared our breakfast with a few cheeky monkeys, then slided down the slope, our trainers sinking in black soil – and we headed home, to the most rewarding sleep. A whole adventurous day, just before sunrise.
