Battambang, part II

Overflowing baskets of noni leaves in the market. This ancient leaf is used for cooking and also to support labouring mamas.

Those little flour pancakes are baking and being eaten all day long.

Lovely face making fresh coconut milk.

On the way to Phnom Sampeu. Sweet boys show me the way to the killing caves, where the red khmers used to detain and torture their prisoners.

In the cave, the atmosphere is very heavy. The contrast between the cages filled with human bones, the sweet smell of incense, and the peaceful noises of the forest, is striking.

Offerings on the way to the top of the mountain.

Beautiful golden display in Wat Banan.

This gorgeous old man gave me a private tour of the temple he has been living in all his life. He spoke khmer and I spoke english, but we understood each other very well.
